Christian Counseling
Christian counseling began between the late 1960s and early 1970s with the Biblical Counseling Movement advocating a Christian-based approach that differed from the psychological and psychiatric solutions of the time. Today we also have the help of science and the guidance of therapists that are
well-trained and in the field of human behavior.
We believed the maladaptive behaviors listed under each diagnostic category were behaviors emanating from our volitional nature rather than an illness in some cases.
Christian Clinical Counseling
Maladaptive behaviors are maintained and are a matter of sin that leads to consequential behaviors and, therefore, is the subject to confrontation as an educational tool using God's word, encouraging the client to choose behaviors that are obedient to God's word, thus removing the sin in their lives and learn to live righteously. These counseling models, such as the medical model, give clients a medical diagnosis based on a list of their behaviors or actions. We attempt to reclassify behaviors and help people complete their responsibility for their choices of living a healthy and everyday life.
